The Standards Program is designed to build excellence within Canada’s charities and nonprofits through common standards of practice and to strengthen confidence in the sector. The five fundamental areas covered by the standards are: board governance, financial accountability and transparency, fundraising, staff management, and volunteer involvement.
Accredited organizations earn the program Trustmark to showcase their achievement in their marketing and communications material such as tax receipts, program brochures, and websites. Accreditation is achieved when a panel of volunteer peer reviewers from within the sector examine policies and procedures provided by organizations in their application and determine they are in compliance with the standards.
Note: If your organization was originally accredited before 2022, your older applications and compliance reports are available on our previous application platform. If you have not yet submitted your reaccreditation application on the new platform, any compliance reports you are required to submit can be found on the previous platform.
